Could you recommend me some composers similar to John Williams and Howard Shore?
Q. I feel like I need to get some inspiration outside of soundtrack music. Could you please recommend me some good composers/albums? I've been interested in symphonic/classical for some time now but have never gotten out of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Heheheh. Thank you very much.

A. I responded to a question not too long ago, wherein it was asked if Howard Shore's music was inspired by the music of Richard Wagner, the great German composer; and I stated there was a somewhat resemblance in style. At the moment, I'm unable to post any You Tube links; but should you care to search for the following there, they're easily accessible(all by Richard Wagner): "Ride of the Valkyries" from "Die Walkure". "Siegfried's Funeral March" from "Die Gotterdammerung". "Fest March" from "Tannhauser"(you also might like it's Overture). Overture to "The Flying Dutchman". Act III Prelude, "Lohengrin". Be advised, that all of the above listed are from "operas"; but are all "orchestral only" excerpts. Hope you enjoy them. … [cont.]

Does someone know where I can find what famous composers are on money other than Bela Bartok?
Q. I found out this morning that Bela Bartok was once pictured on Hungarian Currency. I used that as a Fun Fact for our study of him in Middle School. I was interested in finding out if someone knew if there were other composers listed on their countries currency.

A. The Swiss F20.00 note depicts Arthur Honegger, while the Brazilian 500 Cruzados Novos depicts Heitor Villa Lobos. Meanwhile, going somewhat further afield, the composer Abdilas Maldibaev (1906-1978) has residence on the Kyrgyzstani 1 Som note. Closer to home, the Danish 100 Kroener note has Carl Nielsen in residence, while the French (1997) F20.00 note had Claude Debussy. In Slovenia, Jacobus Gallus (1550-1591) takes pride of place on their 200 Tolar notes. Understandably, the Polish Central Bank will be issuing a 20 zloty commemorative note this month, to mark Chopin's 200th anniversary of his birth this year. Q. My chorus teacher introduced us to the piece "Laudamus Te" From Gloria by Francis Poulenc today. I was amazed with the magnificent atmosphere the piece created. Could you all introduce me to some entry-level contemporary composers?
